Conozca las áreas que se adjudicarán en las Rondas Mineras

The National Mining Agency ("ANM") announced the four mining blocks that the Colombian government will offer in the first cycle of the Mining Round, through which it expects to award areas for the development of copper exploitation projects.

The companies qualified in this selection process will be able to submit offers on these four areas as of March 25, once they have reviewed the geological, technical, social and environmental information provided by the Colombian Geological Service, which will be available upon confirmation of the qualification by the ANM.

(Find details on the qualification process in this link: https://bu.com.co/en/noticias/mining-rounds-advances-anm-sets-criteria-qualification).

The areas are located in the departments of Cesar and Guajira, as follows:

  • The first area is located in San Diego, Cesar, and has 4,940.0077 hectares;
  • The second area is also located in San Diego, Cesar, and is 101.8123 hectares;
  • The third area is located between La Paz and Sandiego, Cesar, and is 155.0976 hectares; and
  • The fourth area is located in the municipality of La Jagua del Pilar, Guajira, and has 469.9682 hectares.

It is important to highlight that, by means of Resolutions 008 and 009 of 2021 of the ANM, these areas were delimited and declared as strategic mining reserve areas for copper minerals, which means that, due to their special relevance for the mining development of the country, these areas will be granted, for 10 years, through objective selection processes such as the Mining Round.
