Medidas cautelares perderían vigencia en octubre de 2022

The Colombian Congress, by means of Law 1579 of 2012, through which the Public Registry Statute was enacted, established that all the precautionary measures will have a 10-years validity starting on the date of its registration. The precautionary measures registered before the enactment of Law 1579 of 2012 shall have a term of 10 years counted from October 1, 2012.

Once this term is expired, the registration could be cancelled through an administrative act as long as the title holder or a legitimated third party requests its cancellation.

Despite of the foregoing, before the registration expiration date the term of the precautionary measures can be extended twice for five more years. To do so, the same judicial or administrative authority that ordered the registration in first place shall requests its renewal.
