Law that guarantees a lead-free environment is issued

The government enacted Law 2041, which guarantees physical and intellectual development in a lead-free environment, setting limits to prevent exposure to this metal.

Particularly, said Law guarantees “the physical and intellectual development of people’s health is guaranteed, especially for minors, in a lead-free environment, setting limits to prevent contamination, poisoning and diseases derived from exposure to this metal.”

This law applies to all public and private agents, whether natural or legal persons, who intervene in the import, use, manufacture, distribution and sale of products that contain lead above the limits set forth in the corresponding regulations, as well as the natural or legal persons involved in the storage, recycling, use, recovery and final disposal of waste.

Additionally, Law 2041 establishes terms for the national government, in coordination with the other competent agencies and dependencies, to formulate a public policy to verify the reduction of the exposure to maximum levels of lead in minors, as well as to establish investment, research and participation commitments in said public policy to achieve its objectives.
