GGGI

Global Green Growth Institute (“GGGI”) is an international intergovernmental organization established in 2012 at the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. Its mission is to support Member countries in the transformation of their economies into green economic model. GGGI provides technical support, capacity building, policy planning and implementation, and support to build a pipeline of bankable green investment projects. 

On March 16, 2021, the Colombian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Colombian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea submitted before the Chair of GGGI a request to become the 39th Member of the organization. Colombia will formally become a Member of GGGI on April 15, 2021.  

During the last eight (8) years GGGI has invested and secured projects with amounts close to 14 million dollars and mobilized 400 million dollars. GGGI is advises the Colombian government on the achievement of its climate and sustainable development goals by 2030. The latter, through strategic policy advise and strengthening and mobilizing finance towards green investment projects on: (i) sustainable land-use; (ii) deforestation reduction; (iii) bioeconomy; (iv) sustainable tourism; (v) waste management; (vi) clean energy; and (vii) e-mobility approaches. 

GGGI is joining subnational governments and environmental authorities to facilitate the applicability and sustainability of results from the national level to the subnational level.
