Brigard & Urrutia partner since 2009. He leads the Tax, Transfer Pricing and Wealth management, trust and estates Teams. During more than 19 years he has worked as national and international tax advisor and in Transfer Pricing for well-known international firms in Colombia and New York. He Currently is the Vicepresident of the Tax Practice Group for Latin America and the Caribbean for the global law firm network Lex Mundi and member of the board of directors of Colombian Institute of Tax Law (ICDT). 

His experience includes strategy design and defense of tax litigation, advice and support to important national and international companies in tax planning of the most recent Mergers and Acquisitions transactions, structuring of equity funds and structuring of the most important infrastructure projects in the country. He is an expert in application of treaties to avoid double taxation, exchange of information and in implementing sophisticated international tax planning structures for corporate activities. In addition to this, he developed the transfer prices area within the tax team, providing advice to clients to which the economic and financial component of tax law has a great relevance. He has extensive experience in managing family structures with inheritance purposes and heritage conservation. He also advises clients in topics related with the appropriate tax compliance and control risk. 

He has been advisor of structuring projects for regional and international expansion of Multilatinas companies such as EPM, ISAGEN, Internexa, Publicar, Bodytech y Manuelita. He has also advised national structuring for companies such as ISA, Terranum, Conconcreto, Impregilo y Bodytech. He has accompanied important projects from the tax perspective such as Ruta del Sol tramo 3, Hidrosogamoso, Hidroituango, El Quimbo y Corredor Perimetral de Cundinamarca. In addition to this he has recently been tax advisor of important mergers and acquisitions’ transactions such as the one of Telecomunicaciones de Millicom and Empresas Públicas de Medellín E.S.P. (EPM), the acquisition of the 19% of the capital of Grupo Pão de Açucar and 100% of the capital of Libertad (Argentina) by Almacenes Éxito S.A., the acquisition of Lechasan and California by Grupo Gloria (Perú) and the acquisition of the shares of CoprBanca (Chile) and its indirect stake in the Colombian companies by Itaú Unibanco (Brasil).

He received his JD from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and holds a LL.M (magister) in International Taxation from the New York University School of Law. He also specialized in Advance Studies in Political, Economic and Social Sciences from Notre Dame University Phoenix Institute South Bend, IN. He obtained the Wallace Scholatrship at the New York University and the Colfuturo scholarship. 

He is professor of International Tax Structuring at Universidad de los Andes and of International Taxation at ICDT; he has been panelist of national and international seminars about taxation in forums of important associations such as IFA, STEP, IBA y ABA. He has published several articles and academic papers for very important international and local tax publication such as: "Tax Considerations of Mergers and Acquisitions Due Diligence and Contract of Sale for the Peruvian Journal of the Tax Law Institute", “Why Colombia Should Negotiate International Tax Treaties: Recent Developments and Perspectives”, “Free Trade Zones and Legal Stability Agreements in Colombia” and “The Anti-Deferral Rules and The Colombian Tax Law”, “Interpretación y aplicación de los convenios de doble imposición internacional en Colombia”, “El Nuevo Régimen Fiscal de las reorganizaciones empresariales”. In addition to this he has been co-author of Works such as: “Cuadernos de tributación internacional para ingenieros” published by Grupo Iberdrola, “Resultados plan de acción BEPS y su aplicación en Colombia” published by ICDT e IFA y autor “Estructuración Internacional de Negocios en Colombia por Inversionistas Extranjeros” published by ICDT.
