Colombia, Germany, and the UN Program on the environment (UNEP) today announced that the World Environment Day 2020 will be hosted by Colombia in collaboration with Germany and that the focus on biodiversity will be on that crucial year of environmental decision-making.

Colombia, Germany, and the UN Program on the Environment (UNEP) announced during the COP25 that Colombia will host world Environment Day 2020 in collaboration with Germany and that the focus on biodiversity will be on that crucial year of environmental decision-making.

Every year on 5 June there will be World Environment Day. It is the United Nations' flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Over the years, it has become the world's largest environmental public outreach forum. It is carried in throughout 100 countries by millions of people.

The United Nations World Environment Day is the principal means of promoting global environmental awareness and action. The Day has also become a vital platform for promoting progress in sustainable development environmental dimensions since 1974. More than 150 countries participate annually under the guidance of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). World Environment brand is endorsed by leading companies, NGOs, cities, governments, and celebrities from all over the world.
