Biosecurity protocols for real estate industry and renovations

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection issued Resolutions 890 and 898 of 2020, adopting the specific biosecurity protocols for the risk management and control of COVID-19 risk in the real estate industry and for the performance of renovations in properties.

These protocols are complementary to the general biosecurity protocol adopted by means of Resolution 666 of 2020. 

In the case of the real estate industry (R. 890), the biosecurity protocol is also complementary to the measures deemed necessary by those responsible activity.  

The biosecurity protocol adopted for this sector includes the following measures: 

1. General biosecurity measures established in resolution 666 of 2020 
2. Real estate activities (CIIU 68)
2.1. Workspace measures 
2.2. Human capital 
2.3. Communications plan
2.4. Contagion prevention risk management
2.5. Leases and brokers
2.6. Valuations
3. Management of condo regime
3.1. Reception measures
3.2. Measures within the condo
3.3. Restrictions of common facilities
3.4. Maintenance
3.5. Management visits 
3.6. Management of suppliers and contractos

Monitoring of compliance with this protocol is in charge of the municipal or district secretariat or entity belonging to the economic activity developed. This, regardless the surveillance conducted by the Ministry of Work regarding compliance with obligations by employers or by any another authority in the execution of its duties.

In the case of renovation works (R. 898), the biosecurity protocol includes the following measures: 

  1. General biosecurity measures established in resolution 666 of 2020 
  2. General measures for the construction in homes and other properties to perform restoration or renovations.
  3. Applicable measures for the stages of the renovation
  4. Applicable measures for the persons interacting in the renovation
  5. Applicable measures for the labor workday
  6. Communications plan
  7. Prevention and management of contagion

Monitoring of compliance with this protocol is overseen by the municipal or district secretariat or entity belonging to this economic activity, of the municipality or district where each company. This, regardless the surveillance conducted by the Ministry of Work regarding compliance with obligations by employers or by any another authority in the execution of its duties.
