As a mechanism to encourage the use of the bicycle as a safe means of transport, public and private establishments should increase the number of parking spaces for bicycles. Accordingly, the private sector was authorized to install parking lot furniture in public spaces, with prior authorization from the Administrative Department for the Defense of Public Space ("Dadep"). Resolution 133 of 2020, has regulated the protocol to be taken into account for the installation of the cyclo-parks.
The interested parties must express their interest to the Dadep by sending an e-mail to correspondenciaoficial@dadep.gov.co complying with the requirements defined in the Decree.
The installation must be guaranteed:
- That it will not be located in areas that limit free pedestrian access or mobility.
- Bicycle safety.
- Conditions of the public space authorised for the cycle park shall be maintained.
- A safe piece of furniture to anchor the bike.
- Weather protection, if possible.
Installation approval: Dadep reviews the requirements and then submits to the Institute of Urban Development - IDU and Institute of Recreation and Sport IDRD, which issues a technical opinion regarding the installation.
