Duty payment for shipments eliminated

The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit has issued the Decree 1090 of August 3, 2020 “Whereby a paragraph is added to Article 261 of Decree 1165 of 2019".

This decree aims to mitigate the effects of the existing health emergency by exempting from the payment of the ad valorem customs duty, the shipments that meet the following requirements: 
 
I) That have arrived to the National Customs Territory through the official postal network and/or under the regime of Postal Service and Urgent Deliveries 

II) That their FOB value is equal to or less than two hundred United States dollars (US200) excluding delivery charges.

These shipments will not have to pay the ad valorem customs duty corresponding to the specific tariff subheadings under which they have been classified.

The Decree will  come into force fifteen (15) calendar days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
