The Ministry of Environment issued Resolution 2184 of 2019, whereby the white, black, and green color code for the separation of waste at the source will begin to apply in 2021 in order to promote citizen culture in terms of waste separation in the country. Likewise, the National Unique Format for the Presentation of the Program of Rational Use of Plastic Bags and the Progress Report is adopted, indicators are incorporated, among others.

Ministry of Environment unified color coding for waste separation

The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development issued Resolution 2184 of 2019, whereby the white, black, and green color code for the separation of waste at the source will begin to apply in 2021 to promote citizen culture on waste separation in the country.

Similarly, Resolution 2148 of 2019, introduces the National Unique Format for the Filing of the Program of Rational Use of Plastic Bags and the Progress Report. This, to facilitate the consolidation and analysis of the data by the competent environmental authorities, as well as to guarantee the homogeneous presentation of the information by the distributors of plastic bags in the country, such as department stores, large commercial areas, chain supermarkets, among others.

Additionally, said Resolution imposes an obligation for the filing of the annual report by distributors who are not required to submit the Rational Use of Plastic Bags Program, informing the quantity of bags sold and the calculation of the annual percentage of reduction of bags sold in respect to the base year.
