On July 2018 the Congress issued Law 1920 named “the Security Guard’s Law”, which creates the legal framework for the inspection, surveillance and control of specialized cooperatives in private surveillance and security and which establishes the regulations for the adequate employment and development of the operative surveillance personnel.

Congress issues the “Security Guard´s Law”

By means of this Law, Congress established the requirements for the operating license of specialized safety cooperatives, regulated the annual contracting of a collective life insurance for the operative personnel as well as the supplementary working schedule applicable to the private surveillance and security sector, created incentives for the engagement of women, senior people or individuals with disability, set the term for the certificate of psychophysic aptitude for the report and possession of firearms, and established September 26th as the national day of private surveillance and security, among others.
