José Nicolás is an associate attorney in the Banking and Financial Services team at Brigard Urrutia, where he has been contributing since 2022. His expertise lies in advising on complex financial transactions, both local and international, with a focus on project structuring and financing, as well as corporate financing.

Beyond his professional practice, José Nicolás is dedicated to academia, serving as a coach for the national and international arbitration team at the National University of Colombia, where he also earned his law degree. Experience

Banking & Financial Services – Provided counsel to Solarpack on the financing secured from IDB, IDB Invest, and Bancolombia for approximately USD 140 million and COP 650 billion. The funding supported the construction and operation of two solar plants with a combined installed capacity of 180 MW.

Banking & Financial Services – Advised The Bank of Nova Scotia on a USD 141 million financing deal for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Caoba energy transmission platform.

Banking & Financial Services – Assisted Bancolombia with financing arrangements for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Sunnorte Photovoltaic Solar Plant, with an installed capacity of 41 MWp.

Banking & Financial Services – Represented lenders in the refinancing of the UPME STR 02-2019 Energy Transmission Project, with a total transaction value of approximately COP 770 billion.

Banking & Financial Services – Counseled Banco de Bogotá and Banco Popular on the financing of the "Doña Teresa" Small Hydroelectric Plant.

Banking & Financial Services – Supported The Bank of Nova Scotia, Export Development Canada, and Scotiabank Colpatria in the refinancing of the Caoba energy transmission platform, amounting to approximately USD 420 million and COP 500 billion.
