Jorge Pablo Velasco
Attorney graduated from Universidad de los Andes with minor degrees in Economics and Government & Public Affairs. He graduated cum laude, ranking within the top 3% of his faculty's graduating classes over the past five years. Additionally, the Ministry of Education of Colombia publicly recognized him for achieving one of the highest scores in the 2022 State Examination for Higher Education Quality. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Finance from the same university.
Jorge Pablo is an associate of the firm’s Banking and Financial Services team, where he advises lenders, funds, agents, and investors on project financing in Colombia, as well as cross-border transactions. Throughout his career, he has provided counsel to both local and international clients, including JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, BBVA, Banco de Bogotá, Corficolombiana, Bancolombia, Financiera Nacional de Desarrollo, Scotiabank, Solarpack Corporation, Matrix Renewables, Atlas Renewable Energy, and Termo Caribe, among others.
Additionally, his experience includes the following financings provided to: (2024) Grupo Inicia (USD 330 million) from Citi, Scotiabank, Banco Popular Dominicano, and Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior S.A. (Bladex), for the acquisition of a stake in the Colombian company Diaco and the Dominican company Gerdau Metaldom; (2024) Unión Vial Camino del Pacífico (USD 140 million) for the payment of certain costs of the 5G Project Buenaventura – Loboguerrero – Buga; (2023) Ecoener for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Sunnorte photovoltaic solar generation plant, with an installed capacity of 41MWp, located in Ocaña, Norte de Santander; and (2022) Solarpack Corporation affiliates for the construction and operation of two solar plants located in Montería, Córdoba, with a total installed capacity of 99.9MW, and in La Gloria, Cesar, with a total installed capacity of 80MW.
