The Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies issued Decree 681 of 21 May 2020, to promote audiovisual works of national origin in streaming video-on-demand (SVOD) services. Decree 681 orders SVOD providers that offer content in Colombia to implement an easily accessible and clearly identified section for their users to view audiovisual works of national origin (national productions made with Colombian artistic and technical staff, with the participation of national actors in leading and supporting roles, and productions with a participation of Colombian technical, artistic or capital over 51%, among other definitions). 

SVOD providers shall use the technical mechanisms that their platforms have available to (i) incorporate the section that allows viewing Colombian content, (ii) determine whether the user accesses the service from Colombia and (iii) identify content that is of national origin and should therefore be included in the respective section. 

SVOD providers must comply with Decree 681 within nine months of its issuance.
